Across Fosse Mead Primary Academy, we offer a range of extra curricular activities. These activities aim to provide children with a supportive space in which they can develop their interests, skills and talents.
Our extra curricular activities are offered through after school and in school clubs which are run by our staff and sports coaches.
Gardening Club
Children in Year 4 have loved meeting each week to plant vegetables in a wheelbarrow for the grow a meal in a barrow competition.
Cookery Club
Throughout the year, children have the opportunity to cook as part of their curriculum. For those who would like to take this further, we offer a cookery club who learn important skills such as cutting, grating and rolling to make healthy meals which they take home and share with their families.
At Fosse Mead Primary Academy, we believe that children should be given the opportunity to grow as leaders in a variety of different environments.
Our pupil leadership roles
- Pupil Leadership Team
- Junior Premises Officers
- Lunchtime Monitors
- Librarians
- Reading buddies
As part of our Healthy Schools pledge, we weave exercise throughout our school day. All children receive weekly PE lessons, opportunities to take part in extra-curricular sport, high quality coaching from our city sports teams and time to engage in free play in the playground each day. Our Fosse Family is also enriched by the work of our wider community such as Henry, our skipping coach, the staff at the Co-Op and all of the amazing staff at the Woodgate Adventure Playground who enrich the healthy lives of all of our children. As part of leadership within our school, a team of children have the role of healthy eating monitors. These children assess the quality of different packed lunches and reward children who are eating healthily with healthy eating stickers. These pupil leaders also advise our senior leadership team of issues in packed lunches that may need addressing at a wider level.
Our Action Plan
At Fosse Mead, we encourage our children to lead healthy lifestyles by eating healthily and exercising. We also believe that it is the responsibility of everyone in our Fosse Family and our world to look after this planet for future generations.
Our Eco Schools pledge encourages all pupils to be responsible rabbits in our school, our city and our world. We do this through teaching children the value of recycling and actively encouraging them to recycle more often; not dropping litter in school or in our local area; giving all pupils the opportunity to take part in litter picking across the school grounds; composting food waste; and an involvement with COGs who recycle our used pens and crisp packets. Together, we can have a positive impact on the world around us.
