PE and Sports Premium Funding at Fosse Mead
What is the PE and Sports Premium?
The government provides supplementary funding for schools and academies to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and Sport.
This money presently equates to £16,000 per school per year plus an extra £10 per child. For our school this year, Fosse Mead will receive £19,460 in sports premium funding.
At Fosse Mead, we identify the contribution of PE and Sport to the health and well-being of the children. We are firm believers that an innovative and varied PE Curriculum, combined with regular extra-curricular activities have a positive influence on developing children’s physical literacy resulting in increased levels of concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all our children.
Within our context, it is vital that all children have the opportunity to experience a wide range of sporting events to encourage all pupils to engage in regular physical activity. As such, a large part of our PE strategy involves engagement with the professional teams in Leicester to inspire children to engage in sport.
